Ellesmere Campsites Shine in Go Outdoors’ Best Places to Stay Guide

Camping holidays have enjoyed a surge in popularity, as not only are they a more affordable alternative to jetting abroad, they also offer the chance to slow down, switch off and truly connect with nature.

This year, Go Outdoors has published a blog on Discovering the Best Places to Stay on a Camping Holiday – and Ellesmere is proudly flying the flag for Shropshire. Our very own Colemere Caravan Park has been ranked Number 1 in their list of the best adult-only campsites in the UK. Known for its peaceful surroundings and easy access to the stunning Colemere lake, the site is a firm favourite for those seeking a relaxing countryside escape.

Not far behind, The Newnes Touring Caravan Park secured a spot in the top 10 of the same category. With its tranquil rural setting and friendly atmosphere, it’s another fantastic choice for anyone looking to enjoy the simple pleasures of a camping break.

Go Outdoors also highlighted Ellesmere itself as a picturesque market town worth exploring, mentioning our historic Market Hall being open every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, offering a wonderful range of local produce, crafts and gifts.

Also for cycling enthusiasts, Ellesmere is an excellent base. The area boasts plenty of quiet lanes and country roads perfect for beginners, while those looking for more of a challenge can tackle the rolling hills in the surrounding countryside.

And there’s more good news – Birch Hill Farm CL Caravan Site has been shortlisted for one of the Caravan and Motorhome Club CL of the Year Awards. This recognition adds yet another reason to celebrate, as Ellesmere’s holiday scene is in full force and booming. It’s clear our corner of Shropshire is the place to be for a memorable staycation.

Whether you’re pitching up for a week or visiting for the day, Ellesmere is ready to welcome you.
